Sports Person of the Year Awards

The Lower Eyre Peninsula Sports Person and Junior Sports Person of the Year Awards are presented by the City of Port Lincoln each year on January 26th as part of the Australia Day celebrations on the foreshore.

Members of the community who have achieved excellence in their sporting field are eligible for nomination.  Nominees must reside and participate in districts south of Mount Hope, Cummins and Tumby Bay. 

A new category - Sporting Volunteers Award has been included from 2017 to recognise volunteers who have supported and contributed to sport.

Sports Person of the Year
(must be 17 years and over as at 1 October 2016 to be eligible)

Junior Sports Person of the Year
(must be under 17 years as at 1 October 2017 to be eligible)

Sporting Volunteers Award

A panel of 7 members from Rotary Port Lincoln, Radio 5CC/Magic 89.9 and members representing a cross section of the local sporting community assessed the nominations received. The winners were announced at an official dinner held Friday 5 January 2018 and were presented with their awards by Olympian and AFLW player Erin Phillips.
