Waste & Recycling Kerbside Collection Schedule

2024 Kerbside Collection Calendar [PDF 2.1MB]

Please note in the updated Kerbisde Collection Calendar there is a change in terminology; 'Week 1' is now referred to as 'Area A' and 'Week 2' as 'Area B' to match the wording being used across the state.

Council provides a weekly kerbside collection for household waste materials for all rateable properties within the Port Lincoln council area.

Council will provide each rateable property with a 140L red lidded bin.  Each bin has a serial number and is registered to the property in which it was delivered and must remain at the property unless returned to Council.

To ensure that your waste bin material is collected it is recommended that you place your waste bin kerbside by 6am on the scheduled collection day.

The bin should not weigh more than 60 kilograms when filled.

If for some reason your waste bin was not collected, and it was out on the kerbside in time, please contact the Council Office on 8621 2300 to find out the reason.

If you need an additional weekly bin pick up or require an additional 'once off bin' pick up service, or a new or replacement bin please contact the Council Office on 8621 2300 to arrange.

The additional bin pick up service will be scheduled to occur on the same day as your normal collection day.

Council provides a fortnightly kerbside collection for household recyclable materials for all rateable properties in the Port Lincoln council area excluding vacant land and Marina Berths.  The resident is to provide a 240L green bin (with either green or yellow lid) and place the bin kerbside by 6am on the scheduled collection day for collection.

The bin should not weight more than 55 kilograms when filled.

Please note: that Recycling bins are NOT SUPPLIED by Council.  The owner/occupier of a property must purchase their own bin.

Any recycle bin that is lost, stolen or damaged otherwise deemed non-useable must be replaced by the landowner at their expense.

400 households have been selected to participate in a 12-month Kerbside Food and Garden Organics (FOGO) Pilot, beginning on 4 March 2024.

Council was successful in gaining matched funding from Green Industries SA (GISA) to undertake the $124,500 pilot project aimed at diverting food and organic waste away from landfill.  These selected households will be introduced to the widely adopted ‘three bin system’. The Pilot will be used to gather crucial information about FOGO collection in Port Lincoln and consider the best service delivery model for a potential full-scale roll out.

The FOGO Pilot area spans between Normandy Place and Breton Place, and Lincoln Highway / Baudin Place and Eric Ave / Grange Grove.  Residences on both sides of Normandy Place will be included, as will all residences on Breton Place / Baudin Place.  No residences on Flinders Highway or Upper Baudin Place will be affected. Council facilities will also be included in the Pilot.

For the duration of the FOGO Pilot, the kerbside bins in the Pilot area will be collected on a fortnightly basis.

  • Red lid waste bins will move to fortnightly collection, picked up the same day as the FOGO bin, commencing from 4 March 2024.
  • The yellow lid Recycle bin will continue to be collected fortnightly, commencing from 26 February 2024 in the Pilot area.
