Port Lincoln Disability Access & Inclusion Plan

Council is developing a Disability Access & Inclusion Plan (PLDAIP) for Port Lincoln and sought input from people living with disability, their carers and families, support workers and disability service providers between Thursday 22 October to Thursday 5 November 2020.

In line with the Disability Inclusion Act 2018 (SA) (the Act) the aim of the PLDAIP is to identify and address access and inclusion barriers to support people with disability participating fully in Port Lincoln life with dignity.

The development of the plan will include measures and strategies to support people with disability and enable Council to provide better access to built environs, events and facilities along with addressing specific needs of people with disability in our community.

Further consultation will be undertaken and involve the broader community once the plan has been developed from the initial feedback.

Have your say

Those identified as a person with disability, a family member, friend or carer of a person with disability were encouraged to complete an online survey to help build an understanding of current disability access and inclusion in the City of Port Lincoln between Thursday 22 October to 5pm on Thursday 5 November 2020.

Hardcopies were made available at the Council Office and Port Lincoln Library.

Next Steps

The survey results received during the initial public consultation phase will now be collated and considered in preparing a draft Disability Access and Inclusion Plan for Port Lincoln for formal public consultation.
