Our Vision, Our Future
Have your say? That's the slogan and the challenging message from the Council as it invited the community to be actively engaged and involved during September and October in establishing the future vision of the City and strategic projects.
There was a range of opportunities to participate and provide comments through public forums, facebook, making a verbal submission and writing thoughts and ideas on a postcard, via email or writing direct to Council.
Comments received will assist in developing a draft City Strategic Plan and projects that will be released to the community for further comment in the coming months before being finalised and adopted by Council.
From the City Strategic Plan, a 10 Year Strategic Plan will be developed for comment to determine the projects to be undertaken over the next 10 years. The Plan will then be broken down into a rolling five year Plan that drives the Annual Business Plan and Budget process undertaken each year.
The feedback received during the initial first stage of the public consultation process has been summarised and broken down into common themes and ideas and a report was presented to the City Strategic Committee at its meeting held on 2 March 2020.
Phase 1 - Initial Vision - key themes and ideas
A draft revised Strategic Directions Plan is being prepared by staff and will be presented to the Council Members for discussion in August 2020, with the intention of a Draft Plan to be adopted for public consultation at the September 2020 Council Meeting. After the second stage of public consultation all feedback received will be considered in the finalisation of the Draft Plan before being adopted by Council by the end of January 2021.
