What better way is there to celebrate Australia Day than to come together and enjoy a delicious community breakfast?
City of Port Lincoln and Eyre Peninsula Broadcasters 765-5CC invite you to come down to the Nautilus Arts Centre on Tuesday 26 January 2021 from 7am. This year Port Lincoln Little Athletics and the Eagles Softball Club will be preparing and serving the breakfast alongside your Elected Members. This years’ event is kindly being assisted by the Australian Government through the National Australia Day Council.
The breakfast is a COVID Safe event and will be run in three 45 minute sittings of up to 150 people on the hour at 7am, 8am and 9am. Bookings are essential and can be made online through www.satickets.com.au. There is no charge for bookings, a gold coin donation is appreciated on the day, as fundraising monies for the two community groups helping out.
A takeaway option for breakfast will be available for collection at the front of the Flinders Archway between 7am and 9.30am, no bookings required.
Following the breakfast at 11am will be the Welcome to Country, Citizenship Ceremony and presentation of the Citizen of the year Awards. The Port Lincoln community will welcome at least 10 new citizens to call Port Lincoln home from England, India, Italy, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, United Kingdom, United States and Vietnam.
The Australia Day Citizen of the year Award recipients will be officially acknowledged and presented with their awards. The award winners are:
Citizen of the Year – Chris Mantle
Young Citizen of the Year – Dylan Cowley
Community Event of the Year – Port Lincoln Football League (2020 Grand Final Event)
Award for Active Citizenship – Johana Page
Mayor Brad Flaherty said, “We are part of a great country and we live in the best place on earth. Come join us and your fellow community members for breakfast this Australia Day. Let’s celebrate together our achievements over the past year, welcome our new citizens and congratulate our award recipients”.
