Do you know of a person who goes above and beyond their normal role? Someone who is always there to help others? Someone who is always willing to put their hand up? Someone who is always involved and works tirelessly within the community?

City of Port Lincoln encourages you to nominate these people for an Australia Day Citizen of the Year Award so that we can acknowledge and reward them for their outstanding efforts. These people deserve to be celebrated by our community as part of our Australia Day celebrations held on the Port Lincoln foreshore.

Nominations are invited for the following categories:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year (16 to 30 years)
  • Community Event of the Year

So many people in our community make it a great place to live by providing services and support across a diverse range of areas.

A person can be nominated for their contribution in a range of areas including education, health, fundraising, charitable and voluntary services, business, sport, arts, the environment, or any other area that contributes to the advancement and well-being of the Port Lincoln community.

Mayor Brad Flaherty said “Help us identify those people who are doing outstanding things in our community by nominating them today.  It’s easy to do and can mean the world to that person to be nominated.  These are the people who make our community a great place to be”.

Nominations can be made online at or you can submit a hard copy nomination form which are available at the Port Lincoln Library, the Council Administration Office or from Council’s website at
