Mayor Diana Mislov

April-May 2023 has been a busy period, with many notable events, meetings and planning processes undertaken.  Some of the highlights include:

The Draft Annual Budget and Business Plan for 2023-2024 has also been released for public consultation, and I urge you to review the Plan and Budget and provide feedback or a submission for Council consideration.  The Annual Business Plan will require a rate rise of 9.5% which although above the current CPI of 7.9%, will allow Council to forward plan to improve services to the city and surrounds.

More information on the Plan and Budget, including timelines, is available on the Council website, however some of the highlights include:

  • Replacing the Swimming Enclosure;
  • Upgraded Ravendale Sporting Club inclusive change facilities;
  • Additional carparking to be sourced in the CBD;
  • Road reseal program of $850k
  • Housing Strategy
  • Youth Action Plan

I recently met with St Joseph’s School Grade Five students, at the Council Chamber, and it was a delight to answer questions from the students, and share my journey as the Mayor of the City of Port Lincoln.

I also recently attended at the Port Lincoln Primary School to listen to a presentation from The Sammy D Foundation.  I encourage all parents and children to learn more about the great work of the Sammy D Foundation, in educating young people on the impacts of bullying, and drug and alcohol fuelled violence.  Their program compliments well, some of the outcomes suggested during the recent Crime Prevention Forum.  The feedback from the Crime Prevention Forum was very positive and we aim to be scheduling an additional forum in the next six months, to include sessions during the day for school children to attend, and also in the evening for parents.

Council is also proud of the opening of the new playspace, part of the Foreshore Redevelopment Project which is continuing this year.  The official opening of the playspace will be on Monday the 5th June, 2023 at 4pm, and we invite the community to join us in celebrating this milestone.

Working together, Council will continue to deliver an inclusive and connected community, committed to excellence in lifestyle, culture, industry and innovation.

Bringing community to the heart of Council decision making.

Diana Mislov - Mayor
City of Port Lincoln
