Clean up of Foreshore Begins

  • Media Release
13th February 2020

Tomorrow morning EP Civil, on behalf of Council will commence work to rectify the damage done to the foreshore from the flash flooding that occurred on Friday 31 January. These works have required approvals and authorisation from the State Government and other stakeholders. Agreed methodologies are now in place with the works to start Friday 14 February and will continue next week.

Council respectfully ask the community to consider their own safety during heavy vehicle and equipment operations and would appreciate that you observe the restricted access within the foreshore area. Work will start near the Yacht Club and progress towards the Port Lincoln Hotel.

The beach profile will be reinstated by moving sand from the east of the foreshore to the west. Flood delivered silt and debris will be excavated and removed to landfill.

The City of Port Lincoln thanks the community for their cooperation and patience as the clean-up process continues.
