Pest Bird Management Survey
Council is calling for local businesses, community members and other government departments to work together to develop an ongoing pest bird management program in response to concerns over the increasing number of pest pigeons taking up residence in our city and surrounds.
The large population of pest pigeons has raised a variety of concerns from potential health issues, damage to buildings, reduction in aesthetic value of buildings and competition with native bird species.
To get an understanding of the problem, Council is conducting a survey of the local community to identify pigeon locations (hot spots) that are negatively impacted by pest pigeons, the control methods currently being undertaken and their effectiveness.
Survey closed 5pm, Friday 14 June 2019
The survey was open from Thursday 24 May to 5pm on Friday 14 June 2019.
The results from the survey will inform the preparation of a pest bird management program.
Signage will be placed around the City advising of responsible behaviour and an information sheet on feral pigeons is available for your information.
