Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
When you place your household recyclable materials into your kerbside Recycle Bin, it is collected each fortnight by Veolia Environmental Services. The recyclable materials make their way to the Northern Adelaide Waste Management Authority for further processing.
The Northern Adelaide Waste Management Authority (NAWMA) have produced a community YouTube video showing good practice for kerbside recycling and what happens to items after they are placed into the kerbside recycling bin.

Batteries contain toxic elements such as cadmium, nickel and mercury. Batteries when disposed of through the household waste bin go directly into landfill, where they can threaten our environment and cause serious health risks to humans. Batteries contain a high proportion of valuable materials which can be recovered and reused.
Council has placed a RecyclePak battery recycling bucket at the Council Office, located in the Civic Centre and at the Port Lincoln Library for community members to use to recycle their household batteries.
Batteries accepted are commonly found in clocks, radios, remote controls, torches, cameras, hand held games and MP3 players etc:
- AA, AAA, C, D, 9V, alkaline, carbon zinc, silver-zinc/silver oxide batteries;
- button batteries; and
- rechargeable batteries - Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) and Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH).
Batteries that are NOT ACCEPTED are Lithium, Wet Cell and Lead Acid such as large car batteries. These batteries and any other battery can be taken direct to the Resource Recovery Centre for recycling.
It is important that the right items go into your household recycling bin to help our recycling process. The incorrect items in your household recycling bin can damage the equipment and can slow up the sorting process.
