Celebrate Australia Day 2025 with a community breakfast and cultural reflection in Port Lincoln
The City of Port Lincoln, in partnership with Eyre Peninsula Broadcasters, invites the community to come together for an Australia Day Community Breakfast on Sunday 26 January 2025, at the Port Lincoln Foreshore.
Mayor Diana Mislov said, “Start your morning with a delicious community breakfast featuring bacon and eggs, a selection of fresh fruit, juice, and damper with native jams. Breakfast will be served from 7.00am to 9.30am, with a gold coin donation supporting the Eagles Softball Club.”
The morning will include family-friendly activities such as free face painting and a colouring competition with prizes to keep the kids entertained. Enjoy hot donuts from the Royal Flying Doctor Service Donut Van and a live broadcast throughout the morning. Bring along your picnic blanket or fold-up chair to relax and enjoy the morning’s events with limited seating and tables also available.
At 11.00am, the official Australia Day Ceremony will commence, featuring Welcome to Country by Emmalene Richards, a Citizenship Ceremony welcoming a family of four from South Africa into the community, and the presentation of the 2025 Australia Day Citizen of the Year Awards, celebrating local achievements.

“In addition, the City of Port Lincoln will be giving away 500 free native tube stock at the official ceremony, providing a wonderful opportunity to take home and plant a piece of local flora,” said Mayor Mislov.
From 1pm to 3pm, the day continues with a special Reflections Event and free open community arts session, “Ngandyarnidi” (To Remember), hosted by local Barngarla woman Emmalene Richards at Shelley Beach, Power Terrace, Port Lincoln. This special event will honour First Nations culture and community through art, storytelling, and meaningful dialogue. Art materials and light refreshments will be provided, offering a space for learning, healing and connection.
“Australia Day is a time to reflect, respect and celebrate the diverse and vibrant community we are today. We invite you to join us and be part of the story,” said Mayor Mislov.
The Elected Members, Eagles Softball Club, Eyre Peninsula Broadcasters, and Council staff look forward to welcoming everyone to this meaningful day of community connection.
