Port Lincoln Library

Library closed in response to COVID-19

In line with Stage 2 of the State Government's Roadmap to Recovery, from 1 June, more people may gather, depending on room size.  Any separate room or area may have a maximum of 20 people (subject to 1 person per 4 square metre rule).  Social distancing measures remain in place. On Wednesday 3 June the 'Book to Browse' service was opened up from 10 people for 20 minutes to 20 people for up to 50 minutes per visit by appointment only.

In line with Stage 1 of the State Government's Roadmap to Recovery, the Port Lincoln Library is offering a new service "Book to Browse" as of Monday 25 May 2020.  For more details refer to 'Book to Browse' below.

Click, Call and Collect service

The State Government has eased some restrictions from Monday 11 May 2020, however the Port Lincoln Library will remain closed. Library staff have been working hard behind closed doors to offer a Click, Call and Collect service.  See below 'Click, Call and Collect' for details on the new service.

From Monday 11 May 2020 Library patrons are able to return items to the Library's outside return chute on London Street or on the returns trolley within the Click, Call and Collect appointment time. Additional cleaning and quarantining of the items will be undertaken.

Library closure

As at 5pm on Wednesday 25 March 2020 the Port Lincoln Library doors have closed to the public until further notice in line with the Federal Government's advice to shutdown non-essential services and will reopen as soon as allowed.

Library members will continue to have access to the Library's digital collections online at www.onecard.network/client/en_AU/portlincoln/

  • eBooks and Audiobooks;
  • Digital Magazines and Newspapers;
  • Online learning (Lynda.com); and
  • Family History (Ancestry Library Edition).

Membership

As part of the One Card library network, the Port Lincoln Library membership offers access to more than 130 public libraries across South Australia and gives you access to over 4 million items.

The added benefit is that Library items can also be returned at any South Australian Public Library.

If you are already a member you can find us online here at www.onecard.network/portlincoln.

If you are not a member of a Library in SA and you would like to be you can register online for a library card or drop in and speak with the Library staff and ask to join the Onecard network.

You will be required to enter in your name and contact details and a pin to create your digital membership account with the South Australian Public Libraries.

It is important that you protect the security of your card and pin as you are responsible for all items while on loan to you.

If you lose your Library card or your card gets stolen please notify the Library staff immediately either in person or by phoning 8621 2345.

A replacement card will be issued for a small fee.

To access the 'Book to Browse' service please call the Library on 8621 2345 to make an appointment time.

There will be a maximum of 20 customers allowed in the Library at one time.

Appointments are 50 minutes and are held on the hour, and entry will be via the London Street door only. Hand Sanitizer is available at the entry point.

Library patrons are asked to arrive on time as visits cannot be extended beyond the allotted 50 minutes.

Library staff will clean and sanitise surfaces between each appointment time to ensure the health and safety of patrons and staff.

All returns will be quarantined for 72 hours and items will remain on patron cards during this period.

Social distancing and other conditions of entry and service restrictions apply.

Library staff reserve the right to refuse entry should customers appear unwell.

You can Click, Call and Collect your available holds from the Port Lincoln Library, Monday to Friday between 9.00am to 5.00pm (as per agreed appointment time).

Step One

Reserve items using the Library catalogue, Libraries SA App or by calling the Library on 8621 2345.

Step Two

Library staff will call to organise a time for you to collect your available items.

Step Three

Collect your labelled bag from the Port Lincoln Library front door. Return items can be placed on the returns trolley or in the outside return chute on London Street.

Please note that you will be unable to enter the Port Lincoln Library to access any additional services or facilities.

The Library has a number of computers that are available to the public to book for a maximum of 2 hours per day per person.  The Library staff are happy to assist you if you need any help when using a computer.

Bookings can be made directly with the Library staff or by phoning the Library on 8621 2345.

Free wireless services are available to members and visitors.

Government agencies, charitable (not-for-profit) organisations, schools and community groups are welcome to use the Community Display area of the Port Lincoln Library for the purposes of raising awareness within the community.

A permit for use of the display area is required and can be obtained by completing and returning the Community Displays Permit Form 2-9-T6 to the Port Lincoln Library with a copy of your public risk policy by:

Government agencies, charitable (not-for-profit) organisations, schools and community groups are welcome to use the Community Room at the Port Lincoln Library free of charge pending availability.

To book the Community Room you will need to complete and forward the Community Room Booking Application Form 16-6-T14 to the Port Lincoln Library by:

A free home delivery service is available for patrons who are unable to access the Library independently.
