Nautilus Arts Centre

COVID-19 - NAC reopens Gallery shop and Galleries

In line with Stage 2 of the State Government's Roadmap to easing COVID-19 restrictions, the Gallery Shop and Galleries will reopen to the public on Tuesday 9 June 2020.  Large groups visiting the galleries are by appointment only.  The theatre and media room remain closed.

Opening hours:

Monday to Friday 10am to 3pm
Saturdays 11am to 1pm

New online service

On 8 May 2020 the Nautilus Arts Centre (NAC) introduced a new service launching their new online Gallery Shop to support artists from the Eyre Peninsula.  To view beautifully locally hand made pieces go to the NAC facebook page (refer link below).

To enquire or purchase an online item message staff via facebook, email or phone 8621 2351. Payments and pickup arrangements will be made over the phone.

Ticket Refunds

If you are requiring a refund to the Comedy Festival or Coal Miner's Daughter, please email our staff at the ticket purchasers name and a contact number that staff can reach you on to process the refund over the phone.

The Nautilus Arts Centre is a multi-purpose cultural centre and comprises the 500-seat Nautilus Theatre, two gallery spaces (The Walter Nicholls Memorial Gallery and The Rotary Gallery), a gallery shop which showcases and sells the work of local artists, and a range of different sized meeting and workshop spaces.

In July 2013, Council took over the operations of the facility and it was rebranded the Nautilus Arts Centre in 2014.

The Nautilus Arts Centre is a welcoming and creative space that can be transformed to suit individual requirements.

The Nautilus Theatre holds a range of diverse and exciting productions including productions from the Country Arts SA' Performing Arts Programme.

Hire of Facilities

The Nautilus Arts Centre has facilities available for hire for small scale events and major events.

  • The Walter Nicholls Memorial Gallery is a purpose built A-Class facility on the eastern side of the Nautilus Arts Centre.
  • The Rotary Gallery is situated between the foyer and the Nautilus Theatre. The gallery has high visibility because theatre patrons pass through the exhibitions space on the way to the theatre stalls.
  • The Media Room has a capacity to seat up to 100 people, has technical facilities for presentations and is used regularly for meetings and workshops. Access is via Washington Street.
  • The Green Room is a small meeting room with capacity for 10 to 15 people. The Green Room is part of the performers’ facilities and is only available when the theatre is not in use.
  • The Studio is a large room situated on the upper floor directly above the Media Room and is currently being utilised by the Port Lincoln Yoga Group, via a hire agreement.
  • The Foyer provides an informal display area for the community. ‘Artist of the Month’ is displayed in this space. Merchandise and CD’s are often for sale and signed in this space after a performance.
  • The Kitchen is a fully commercial grade facility allowing the NAC to market itself as a comprehensive facility for conferences, weddings and other major events.

How to Apply

To apply to hire any of the facilities offered at the Nautilus Arts Centre you will need to complete and forward to Council the relevant form and requested documents with the fees payable as per Council's Fees and Charges Schedule.
