City of Port Lincoln invites nominations for the 2027 Citizen of the Year Awards
The City of Port Lincoln is inviting community members to nominate outstanding individuals and community groups for the 2027 Australia Day Citizen of the Year Awards.
The annual awards celebrate individuals and groups that make a positive difference in the Port Lincoln community. They recognise people who go above and beyond to support others, strengthen community connections and help create an inclusive community where everyone has the opportunity to participate and thrive.
Whether it’s a long-serving volunteer, a young emerging leader, a community group delivering an outstanding project, or the organisers behind a memorable community event, the awards recognise and celebrate the contributions that help make Port Lincoln a vibrant and welcoming place to live.
Nominations are open in the following categories:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year (aged 16 years to 30 years as of January 26, 2027)
- Community Event of the Year
- Award for Active Citizenship (for a person or group delivering outstanding service to the community).
Mayor Diana Mislov, said, “These awards provide an opportunity to shine a light on the many people who make a positive difference in the community.”
“Many of our most deserving community contributors work quietly behind the scenes. This is an opportunity to acknowledge their efforts and thank them for the positive difference they make in the lives of others.”
“We often hear about the challenges people are facing, whether it’s the cost of living or other issues affecting communities across Australia. That’s why it’s equally important to celebrate the positive stories happening right here in Port Lincoln.”
“If someone has helped strengthen our community, created opportunities for others, inspired positive change, delivered a successful community project, or been involved in delivering an outstanding community event, I encourage you to nominate them before nominations close. Taking a few minutes to submit a nomination can ensure their contribution receives the recognition it deserves.”
Nomination forms are available on Council’s website and at the Council Office and Port Lincoln Library.
Nominations close Friday, 20 November 2026.
Award recipients will be announced prior to Christmas and formally presented with their awards during the City of Port Lincoln’s Australia Day celebrations on the Port Lincoln Foreshore on Tuesday, 26 January 2027.
