The City of Port Lincoln is celebrating after its team, the “Port Lincoln Tuna Tossers”, claimed first place at the LG Professionals SA Rural Management Challenge held in Adelaide on 18 September 2025.

The challenge, designed to replicate real-world scenarios faced by local governments, brought together councils from across the region to test participants’ skills in problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and strategic thinking.

Port Lincoln’s four-member team showcased their knowledge, innovation, and collaboration under pressure, ultimately securing the top spot in this highly competitive simulation-based program.

The District Council of Robe achieved second place, while the Port Augusta City Council proudly took out third.

The Rural Management Challenge is designed to stretch participants’ abilities and replicate the complexity of local government work. Our team not only rose to the challenge but excelled, proving the strength, talent and dedication of our people.”
