Published 26th November 2024

The City of Port Lincoln has adopted its Strategic Directions Plan 2025-2034 at the Council meeting held on Monday 18 November 2024.  This Strategic Directions Plan builds on the solid foundations of the previous Strategic Directions Plan 2021-2030 and introduces a refreshed vision, placing a renewed focus on sustainability in the city’s future planning and development.

The updated vision, “An inclusive, connected and sustainable community committed to excellence in lifestyle, culture, industry and innovation,” reflects a shared commitment by Council and the community to advancing sustainability initiatives that will benefit Port Lincoln’s future.

Council continues to focus on its five key goal areas:

  • Economic Growth and Opportunity
  • Liveable and Active Communities
  • Governance and Leadership
  • Sustainable Environment
  • Community Assets and Placemaking.

The Strategic Directions Plan’s actions have been refined based on valuable input from the community and key stakeholders.  These updates align Council’s efforts with evolving community aspirations and priorities, offering a clear pathway to achieving these goals and realising the vision for Port Lincoln.

The Strategic Directions Plan 2025-2034 outlines 52 strategic actions that build on the successes of the previous plan, paving the way for exciting projects and upgrades across the city.

Mayor Diana Mislov said, “Our future goals are ambitious, and achieving them will require substantial financial support from both state and federal governments, particularly for major infrastructure projects.  With the continued partnership of our community and government agencies, we are confident we can meet the future needs and expectations of Port Lincoln.”

Some of the key inclusions in the new Strategic Plan are:

  • Advocating for affordable housing, aged-friendly spaces, and increased aged care facilities and respite services for carers.
  • Improving childcare opportunities and family support
  • Supporting and educating the community and local businesses to enhance environmental sustainability
  • Enhancing accessibility through improved footpaths, carparking, pedestrian safety, and cycling infrastructure
  • Securing water resources and upgrading infrastructure to manage stormwater and flooding, while maximising water reuse.

“Council remains committed to making Port Lincoln the best it can be for everyone, fostering a vibrant and inclusive lifestyle and building on the community spirit that makes the city so special,” said Mayor Mislov.
