Have your say on how Council engages with the community
The City of Port Lincoln is inviting the community to have their say on its Draft Community Engagement Policy and how Council can improve the way it communicates and provides opportunities for community participation.
Council is reviewing the Policy following local government reforms and the introduction of the Community Engagement Charter under the Local Government Act 1999. The Charter sets out how councils must engage with their communities and aims to ensure people have clear, timely and meaningful opportunities to be involved in decisions that affect them.
As part of the review, Council is seeking community feedback on how people currently engage with Council, how they prefer to receive information, and the best ways for them to provide feedback and participate in decision-making.
Mayor Diana Mislov said, “Community input is important to ensuring Council’s engagement approaches are accessible and inclusive. We want to make it easier for everyone in our community to have their say. Hearing directly from our community about what’s working well and where we can do better will help Council improve the way we communicate and engage, and support more informed decision-making.”
To make it easier to provide feedback, Council has created a survey to help inform the review of the Draft Community Engagement Policy.
Feedback received during the consultation period will be used to help Council understand the best ways to share information and provide opportunities for people to have their say when consulting on future matters. Any proposed amendments will be considered by Council before the Policy is finalised and adopted.
Community members can provide feedback by making a written submission through Council’s online Engagement Hub at yoursay.portlincoln.sa.gov.au, completing the online survey through the Engagement Hub (preferred), submitting a hard‑copy survey available at the Council Office and Port Lincoln Library, or by emailing yoursay@plcc.sa.gov.au.
The Draft Community Engagement Policy is open for public comment from Thursday, 23 April 2026, with written submissions and the survey closing at 10.00am on Monday, 18 May 2026.
