Marina Footbridge Upgrade - Project Update

Published 9th April 2026

The City of Port Lincoln wishes to advise that during early preparations for the planned electrical upgrades to the Marina Footbridge, an issue was identified with existing underground services beneath the water between the bridge abutments. Unfortunately, this infrastructure can no longer be used, meaning the scope of works has been revised to allow for the installation of a new power supply to the southern abutment.

As a result, the works are more complex than originally anticipated and require additional approvals before the updated construction program can be confirmed. At this stage, it is expected that works will not commence before July / August 2026.

Council understands that delays can be frustrating and thanks the community for their patience while these matters are resolved. Council remains committed to ensuring the Marina Footbridge operates safely and reliably, and undertaking the works during winter is expected to help minimise disruption to users.

Further updates will be shared on Council’s website and Facebook page once the revised schedule is confirmed.

Any enquiries about the upgrade works can be directed to Council’s Manager Grants & Projects, Clint Aird on 8621 2300 or email at plcc@plcc.sa.gov.au.
