Sport and Recreation and Quick Response Grant Applications Now Open
The City of Port Lincoln invites applications for the Sport and Recreation and Quick Response categories of its Community Grant Funding Program.
The Sport and Recreation Grant supports local sport and recreation initiatives that foster grass roots activation, participation and sustainability. Community groups can apply for grants of up to $5,000 from Thursday 15 August until Tuesday 10 September 2024, initiatives to be undertaken within the 2024-25 financial year. Applications will be assessed by Council.
Mayor Diana Mislov said, Council recognises the fundamental role sport and recreation play in benefiting the local community and has allocated $15,000 to the Sport and Recreation Grant category for 2024/25.
“This funding will help local clubs and associations to deliver sport and recreation opportunities that benefit the local community. These could include structured programs, such as coaching clinics, or unstructured activities like walking or running groups, orienteering, surfing, hiking, or other initiatives that support participation and sustainability.”
“Community and individual physical and mental health and wellbeing are key focuses within Council’s Strategic Directions Plan, and this is reflected in our Sport and Recreation Strategy 2023-2027, said Mayor Mislov.”
“Regular participation in sport and recreation, both structured and non-structured, enhances our residents’ health and wellbeing, creates opportunities for social connection and strengthens the wider community.”
“We look forward to seeing applications from our sporting and recreational organisations, which will help achieve these outcomes for Port Lincoln.”
Applications for Sport and Recreation grants of up to $5,000 are open until 10 September 2024 and will be assessed by the Council at its September Ordinary Meeting.
Based on the outcome of this annual funding call, a small amount of funding may be reserved for minor events and initiatives falling under the Sport and Recreation category, with grants of up to $1,000.
The Quick Response Program is also open for applications, allowing community organisations to apply for funding of up to $1,000 for small scale events, activities and programs that support our community. This grant program has previously funded intergenerational community playgroup, a free performing arts program, a children’s road safety program, and a community garden program. Applications are open year-round.
The Community Grant Funding Program also includes the Flagship Events and Community Wellbeing categories, which are allocated on a three-year basis. Applications to these categories will open again for another 3-year funding period in the 2026/27 financial year.
