Tunarama named finalist in South Australian Tourism Awards
Port Lincoln’s iconic Tunarama Festival has been named a finalist in the 2026 South Australian Tourism Awards, acknowledging its successful return as one of the Eyre Peninsula’s most beloved events earlier this year.
Tunarama returned to the Port Lincoln foreshore in January after a two-year hiatus, now run by the City of Port Lincoln. The vibrant three-day event program celebrated our region’s seafood industry, community and culture – featuring a street parade, live entertainment, local food and beverages, multicultural experiences, a variety of family-friendly activities, and the legendary Tuna Toss. The event attracted between 20,000 and 25,000 attendees and injected an estimated $14 million into the local economy.
The South Australian Tourism Awards, supported by the South Australian Tourism Commission, are designed to celebrate outstanding achievements and success within our state’s tourism industry – recognising excellence, innovation, professionalism and collaboration.
Tunarama’s finalist recognition reflects the incredible work and passion of everyone involved in the festival’s triumphant return, including our Council employees, volunteers, local businesses, sponsors, community groups, event partners, and the many people who attended and supported the festival.
Mayor Diana Mislov says “We are thrilled that Tunarama has been named a finalist in the South Australian Tourism Awards.”
“A remarkable amount of work goes into an event like this, and we are thankful for all the community support we received in our endeavour to bring Tunarama back to Port Lincoln.”
“This is a proud moment not only for the Tunarama organising team, but for the whole of Port Lincoln”
Preparations are underway for next year’s Tunarama, scheduled for 15 to 17 January 2027.
Public voting for the South Australian Tourism Awards People’s Choice Category closes 5pm, Monday 12 October, with winners announced in Adelaide on 6 November. You can vote for Tunarama at ticsa.com.au/industry-programs/tourism-awards/2026-south-australian-tourism-awards-finalists.
